Subject: Our tug has a mini-me!

The current edition of aero-modelling magazine RCM News has a photograph of a beautifully finished model of the Caboolture Gliding Club tug!

Model maker Luke Fracchia has got almost every detail correct, right down to the club’s phone number on the side of the fuselage. Only the registration letters are not true to life.

Dr Timothy Orchard photographed the model at Tin Can Bay in May this year, where the Pawnee was making its maiden flight at an aero-modelling event among miniature versions of the Tiger Moth, Mustang and other warbirds – not too different from the real thing’s environment at YCAB.

Now if we can only get Luke to change the letters on his tail fin from JJF to SPA ...

And there’s further interest for glider pilots elsewhere in the magazine, with a story on radio controlled model tugs towing radio controlled model gliders into the air – up to four gliders behind one tug!

What a great weekend!

Some of the best flying conditions so far this year, and warmer than many expected.

Thanks to the guys from MMAC for putting on another great event and we look forward to going back next year.

No photos this year, but some video instead.
