Hi all,

Well what a great day…

What started as a seemingly quiet day with few members soon got very busy..

[text omitted]

With the conditions looking “booming”, Speedy [Gonsalves], Bert [Persson] and Kevin Rodda (in his orange machine) [WUC ... the Schweizer SGS 1-35] soon turned up and took to the skies in rapid succession just before 11 am.

As the day drew on and we were all busy with the student and training flights, we’d almost forgotten about Speedy, Bert and  Kevin who were still nowhere to be seen.

Even as the last flight of the day landed just after 4pm, there were still pockets of lift around … but still no Kevin.

As I was leaving the field just before 5pm, I spotted Kevin who looked to have just landed. Considering he took off at 10:50 am that clearly counts as a serious bit of flying by Caboolture standards … Well done Kevin.

Honours for the longest flight of the day clearly go to Kevin for his close to 6 hrs effort.

Cheers,

Mike McCluskey

[Meanwhile Speedy in his Schleicher K14 motor-glider and Bert in his self-launching TST TM10 Atlas had flown to Gympie Airfield and back in "power off" mode except for launcing!]

Kevin managed six hours and two minutes!

Well done Kevin.

That could be a record flight from YCAB!

Bert said that he did 5 hours on the test flight of WUC.

[Bert’s flight was actually 5 hours and 35 minutes on 26-Jan-11]

Does anyone know of a longer flight from YCAB?
