Today’s report
in 7,242 words.

It
was a soggy start to the day at runway 30 today. Both the pie cart and
the green Ford succumbed to the mud. I managed to tow out the Ford
(it’s ok Tony, that’s Karl’s personal rope) ...
but the bogged pie cart proved too much for my little 4WD ...

...
so it was Bryan Carpenter to the rescue ...

Once
on dry(er) ground my trusty “L1” for the day, John Clayton, and I
settled down to training students David Lillistone and Adam French.Rod
Wilson took advantage of an idle IS28 to take a work colleague for a
flight. Former member Arthur Marcel made a rather noisy entrance to our
little gathering...

...
before heading off into the wild blue yonder ...

Mick
Moloney in the Libelle tried to out-thermal David Lillistone and I in
the Blanik but 40 knots and a fistful of flaps saw us out climb the
little single seater. Accolades to Mick, however, for staying aloft for
one hour 2 minutes in the glorious winter sunshine from a 2:20 pm
launch.

Achievement
of the day went to Adam French who, after surviving a check flight with
John Clayton and
a couple of low level cable separations with me on board, found out for
the first time how much lighter a two-seater feels with only one
occupant.

Congratulations
on going solo today Adam.
Thanks
to everyone for helping out with today’s 9 flights and the
extra-curricular muddy activities.
Cheers,
David
