Owners
(John Ashford at left
and Pearce Mitchell at
right) rig their
Mosquito VH-GQD adjacent
to the undershoot area
of Caboolture Airfiled's
Runway 30.
|
|
|
|
|
John
Ashford towed Quebec
Delta to Caboolture
today to undertake its
"post Form 2"
evaluation flight and it
was great to see him and
Pearce Mitchell together
at the CGC flight
line. |
|
|
|
Newer
members of CGC may not
be aware that John is a
regular tug pilot with
CGC ("Scrubby"
in the bright yellow
ute) who normally does
his gliding at Darling
Downs Soaring Club which
is located at Jondaryan
some 50 kilometers north
west of Toowoomba. |
|
|
|
Pearce
was once also a very
active member of CGC
until he decided to
focus more on cross
country flying and joined DDSC where Quebec
Delta is hangared. |
|
|
|
Quebec
Delta had three flights
today ... |
|
|
|
John
Ashford - 53 minutes |
|
Pearce
Mitchell - 40 minutes |
|
Kevin
Rodda - 42 minutes

Kevin
Rodda was particularly
grateful to be invited
to fly Quebec Delta as
it was the introduction
in 1976 of two
European fibreglass
gliders (the
Glasflügel
Mosquito 303
and the
Schempp-Hirth
Mini-Nimbus)
that is regarded as
bringing an end to the
competitiveness on a
world stage of the
American aluminium Schweizer
SGS 1-35 (the
orange coloured VH-WUC
that he regularly flies
these days at
Caboolture).
