 Go for solo - Monday

19-Sep-11

Not much variety in student names, but there was plenty of variety in the flying done by Adam French, David Lillistone, Adam Luff and David Guzzwell on Go For Solo Monday.

Rope breaks, right hand circuits, modified circuits, descent on tow, wing down take off, boxing the slipstream and beating the tug down were all on the menu as two trainees worked their way through post-solo exercises while the other two surged ahead in their flying towards first solo.

David Lillistone, with the least number of flights in his log book, even scored the flight of the day: 32 minutes of thermalling off a 1500 foot launch including his first time circling with another glider!

David Higgs, just to keep the name theme going, was the day’s designated instructor, with Barry McCarthy, Garrett Russell and Mick Moloney instructing and running the day in support.

As usual our tuggie Tony Esler had the highest number of flights, towing all 14 launches.

Stats for the day:
GYK 8 flights 1:49
CQC 6 flights 1:29

The whole crew left tired, hot, sweaty and above all happy with what they’d achieved from the day.

And if their memories of what they saw from the cockpit are a little hazy, there’s a good reason:

Here’s to another great day of magical YCAB flying (and achieving) tomorrow.

Garrett
