 Bye bye IKW

02-Sep-11

First flight of the day, 10:04 Friday 4 September:
Steve Bowtell tows Bert Persson and Lindsay Mitchell off RW06 en route to the Twin Astir’s new temporary home at Gympie Gliding Club. They got off tow at about 8,500 feet near Maleny and landed at Gympie at exactly 12:04 after mooching around for half an hour at 5,000 feet and in 8 knot lift while they waited for their reception committee to get to the airfield. It’s a tough job, this glider ferrying, and we’re lucky we have such selfless volunteers to do it.

Definitely "two birds with one stone" ... two current challenges for two gliding clubs have been addressed with the agreement to temporarily cross-hire Caboolture Gliding Club's two-seater Twin Astir (VH-IKW) to Gympie Gliding Club ... CGC's upcoming storage space challenges due to the need to vacate Hangar 105 ... as well as Gympie Gliding Club's need for a two-seater aircraft while the ASK-21 (VH-GFB) is being repaired.
