Tim
Williams said it right: how
ironic that he couldn’t fly today, because it was a perfect
day for training flights. Our pre-solo members could have logged
a ton of training out on a dry and very comfortable RWY 12 and
they might have even experienced a few knots of lift:

Instead it
was just three flights for the duty crew and an early wrap.

The crew
were L2 Peter Stephenson, Lindsay Mitchell AEI, tuggie Ben
Mitchell, duty pilot Adam Luff and me as a volunteer L1. The
flights, all in CQC, were 21, 18 and 57 minutes – yes, a 57
minute hangar flight, and Lindsay’s vario photo above is the
proof of the day everyone else missed!

But it
wasn’t just duty crew at the field:

Mick
Moloney and Karl Bodi (pictured above) arrived around lunch time with something
other than flying on their minds, and the day developed into an
early afternoon of fitting the Club Libelle trailer to the new
tow ball on Mick’s car and various other preparations for our
Easter adventures at Chinchilla.

There’s
one more weekend of club flying at YCAB before the comp takes
out attention west for the two following weekends – so those
of you who can’t get out to Chinchilla, make sure you come
flying next weekend.

Even
if the weather looks bad at your place you CAN still find great
flying at Caboolture. Look at today’s vario photo again and
make your plans for next weekend’s flying NOW!

After
a very wet Feb'12 (where we only had a total of seven flying
days) and Friday and Saturday both cancelled due to water laying
on the airfield surrounds, it was great news to hear that we did
operate today!
