Morning
All,
Brian
has rather selflessly thanked all who assisted at
the Chinchilla Easter Comp but in reality he has
been the driving force behind the tremendous
success of the event.
Brian
announced at the presentation dinner on Saturday
night at the Chinchilla RSL that he would not be
filling the Competition Organiser position again.
He has done it numerous times, the last 5 in a
row, and quite justifiably has chosen to step down
and give someone else a go. It is a task that
occupies a lot of time and is very close to being
a continuous 12 month one. Soon after everything
is wrapped up from one year it is time to start
planning the next. The hours and kilometres Brian
and Anne have put in are only known to them but I
know they are considerable.
The
decision has also been made that CGC will not be
the organising club next year. Gliding Queensland
will appoint the organising club in the near
future.
I
feel very proud to be the President of a club that
has such a large number of members who do so much
for gliding in general. Brian has personally named
a large number of members who assisted in various
ways at Chinchilla but the CGC involvement is more
than the personnel. It is the involvement of the
Club in an activity that is foreign to flying at
our home base. Members from other clubs have
commented to me many times of the great spirit and
pride CGC members have in their club. Then there
are the others like Kevin Rodda who as assistant
GQ delegate to the GFA Board has made numerous
trips to Melbourne in that role and David Higgs as
GQ webmaster who has spent many hours setting up a
very user friendly web site. Garrett Russell as
Secretary for the Caboolture Aero Club, Speedy as
a CAC Safety Officer, and again Kevin Rodda as a
CAC committee member. Duties that have to be
performed outside of CGC for all of us to have
good safe fun.
Thank-you
again Brian and thank-you again to everyone for
helping CGC be such a great club. We're known as
the Friendly Club and you all make it that way.
Lindsay
