Flying resumed on Wednesday after Tuesdayıs lay day, but not everyone madeit back to Chinchilla Airport:

Kevin Roden and Lindsay Mitchell ended their day in a paddock in company
with Pearce Mitchell in his single seater. The competitive focus then
shifted to ground activities as both retrieve crews battled to be the
first home.

Team Caboolture easily won the first leg no mean feat (as anyone who has
ever de-rigged a Twin Astir can confirm!).

We had the two seater in the box and locked while they were still packing
theirs.

And we beat them back to the airport by a handsome margin (unfortunately no trophies for this event).

However the forced landings started well before most of us even got to
Chinchilla last Thursday:

The Club Libelle, complete with trailer, came unexpectedly and spectacularly
down to earth somewhere between Dalby and Chinchilla.

How spectacularly?

Mick and David are not boys to do anything by halves! And once they actually got flying, they showed continuing good skills in paddock selection:

And the families who own them:

And speaking about family matters, remember the reference to Karl and Giggle and Hoot?

All jokes aside, gridding has been a valuable new experience for many of our
team

A rare photograph of Wayne Burgess wearing one of his own safety vests
(later personally autographed as a valuable collectors item.

All gridding and launching has been very good.

And our launch rate of over 30 gliders an hour has passed the standards of
the highest military inspection!

Refer Garrett's update from Chinchilla ... it appears that this is what
happens to glider trailer tyres ... mine was south of Grafton (in the
middle of the night) on the way down to Newcastle last week.
