What a lovely warm day we had on 06 today with quite a small crew at the piecart. Our expected 11am AEF passenger cancelled during the morning due to illness but the 12noon AEF passenger (who was "missing" from the day's pie-cart schedule) did turn up ... so Ian MacLachlan was treated by Kevin Rodda to an ideal passenger flight in CQC during the best of the day.

The day started with Arthur Mailey taking GYK off all on his own since there was no immediate demand for it and, anyway, other members were busy helping Alex Horvath rig XOF which then took to the sky for what must have been a very nice flight. Of course, Speedy could not stand by and look at the clouds so he took GSR out to play too and came back 3 hours 09 mins later - the flight of the day obviously.

It stands to reason, these earlier flights required the cooperative assistance of both TOJ and its pilot, John Knox, who was replaced by Steve Bowtell who brought Nathan as his camera crew. A sincere thankyou to both John and Steve for taking care of our launch needs for our 14 flights as we proceeded with member flying for Bob Hainsworth and Charles Hoch, Neil
Schaefer, Shane Tuck, John Nestor not to mention a round of annual checks, for Lindsay Mitchell and for Mike Grady, this time. The day finished with CQC being recalled to the flight line so Arthur could take Anne Bradley for a hangar flight.

Any break while gliders were occupied was filled with members catching up with each other's travels, etc.  Lindsay reminded us all not to forget the AGM tomorrow night, so you have been warned .

I might mention that John Ashford's efforts to rectify GYK's radio woes have been wonderfully effective. GYK's calls were loud and clear again. Another thankyou to you, John and a final thanks to Barry McCarthy for his patience as our L2 again today.

Just after 15.30 we had retrieved CQC and it was being packed away while paper work was done so we had an early day for once. A reference to my waste paper basket indicated that we were two flights short of last week's tally but it was a much more pleasant day for those of us sitting about enjoying the wait for a glider. Given the forecast, I can certainly recommend it to anyone contemplating flying tomorrow.

Judith, on behalf of the Friday crew.
