Hi all
Today’s
crew consisted of yours truly as AEI, David
Higgs as L2, Karl Bodi was pulling into the
skies and Mick Moloney who was standing in as
Duty Pilot for the day (thanks for stepping in
Mick).
I
arrived at the field to find our sole student
for the day (Rory Rearden) had already unwrapped
the IS-30 (thanks Rory!) … that , coupled with
two AEF’s booked for the morning, meant we had
a quorum to fly.
Our
only hope was that the forecasted rain and storm
would hold off long enough to get our AEF and
student flights completed.
After
a rather leisurely start to the day, the first
flight was in the air at 10:40am with Rory and
David.
My
first AEI arrived at 11am ... I took the teenage
son of an ex French military jet pilot up for
what turned out to be flight of the day at 30
mins.
Small
pockets of lift were about however, by late
morning, conditions were starting to look worse.
A
second AEF flight (David Caruana) shortly after
midday was also a hangar flight for the IS-30 as
conditions continued to deteriorate.
Air
Experience Flight passenger David Caruana in the
IS-30.
As an
existing RA Aus pilot, David had a ball (albeit
25 mins) and thoroughly enjoyed discovering that
rudder pedals do actually come in handy when
turning.
Whilst
I was entertaining our guests, David Higgs was
busy putting Rory through his paces with a
series of ‘rope breaks’ and some
“unexpected” instructor-induced sink whilst
in the circuit … no doubt Rory is well on his
way to Solo.
The
sixth and last flight landed under very dark
skies at 1:30pm ... that's when we decided to
pack up before the forecast rains hit us.
Wrap-up
time as the weather deteriorates rapidly.
Best
regards,
