A tale of two solos

28-Jul-14

CGC junior hits the big time!

I remember being at RWY12 one day back in Dec'08 when a young female cadet named Emma John took her first solo glider flight in a Caboolture Gliding Club L-13 Blanik.

It was her 15th birthday!

Emma's flying career has certainly come a long way since then ...

Here is Emma in the photo above taking her first solo in a PC9 at RAAF Base Pearce (35 ks north of Perth) last week only 5½ years after that first solo glider flight at Caboolture.

Just a little step up in training aircraft!

This file photo of Emma (flanked by her proud parents Peter and Joanne John) was taken on the day that Ranger Stacey from Channel 10's "Totally Wild" program did a story on Emma.

It was in Oct'09 ... at the time that Emma had been accepted into the Australian Defence Force Academy.

On behalf of all at CGC ... congratulations and well done Emma!
