Not a good start to the day
with showers and low cloud base early
morning.
Conditions were improving
by 9am and Bob Turner the Duty Instructor,
assisted today by me and with the
concurrence of John Knox the morning tug
pilot, decided that we would give the
weather the benefit of the doubt and headed
out to RW12 .
Most of the usual Friday crew
are away for several weeks and the only one
flying was student Jessica Bellamy who we
managed to get away for the first flight of
the day at 0950 with instructor Bob Turner.
Despite improvement in
conditions lift was negligible, although
this was of no concern for Jessica and Bob
as they were concentrating on circuit
practice and quick turnarounds.
Throughout the morning
nuisance scatted rain drops continued until
about 11.30.
Steve Bowtell arrived about
11am and took over Jessica’s training
which finished at 12.22 after 6
flights.
I did tell Jessica the she
would not be charged extra for her private
training on the day by two tug pilots and
the attention of three Level 2 instructors.
Last flight of the day was by
Steve Bowtell behind Luke Westahous who was
doing his first tow in SPA. Luke flies the
tug for the cadets at Warwick
Stats for the day:-
Blanik GYK – 7 flights
for a total of 60 minutes.
