Flying - Sunday 27/9/15

Few
flights on Sunday and fewer members - in fact none,
other than the duty crew of Dave Donald, Chris Weir,
Neil Schaefer, one student Jim Thompson, and me.
Dave
was rostered as Duty Instructor, but as there was no
one for him to instruct ( in excess of allowable
cockpit weight with Dave and Jim in the Blanik), I was
happy to fill in for him for the day so he could take
the opportunity to visit family at Bribie,
Reasonable
soaring conditions by mid-morning, but the usual blue
hole was over YCAB by noon.
Most
thermal activity had shifted to the north west and
strong southerly winds put paid to venturing too far
in that direction.
Chris
had only one AEF, who due to not feeling well, was the
reason they were back on the ground after 21 minutes.
Chris
then took to the sky in the Libelle and after a lot of
persistent "scratching" managed to clock up
a very creditable 1hr 45 mins. Bert was in the air in
his Atlas at the same time as Chris but further west.
Not sure of his time but I think it was similar to
Chris's. I have made a "Captain's pick" and
given Chris the longest flight of the day.
I
spent the day continuing with Jim's circuit training
in the Blanik.
Stats
for the day:-
QA
- 1flight - 21 mins
JY
- 1 flight - 1hr 45 mins
YK
- 4 flights - 38 mins
