Hi all,

Well what a hot busy day Sunday turned out to be - in contrast to Saturday’s quieter than usual day.

In summary

·         17 flights

·         A big tick following a bi-annual check of our  club operations AND its instructors by Tony Scarlett (GFA RTO Ops - QLD Region)

·         1x new solo member

·         2 x AEF’s

·         1 x passenger vomit session (not so nice)

·         2 x rop-in’s and tester flights with a couple of visiting overseas pilots

·         1 x IS28 Backseat endorsement

·         3 x aircraft (2 x Blanik and IS28) online

Your crew for the day was Steve Bowtell (tug),  myself (AEI) with David Higgs, Garret Russell and Mick Moloney all providing their instructional pearls of wisdom to those attending. Our busy duty pilot was Dave Guzzwell.

Supplementing the team & assisting with general operations (DI’ing, retrieves, training, etc) was Rod Elsworth, Mark Thompson and Alan Graham. Students included Theo Mus and Jacob Mason.

Theo getting ready for his first ever solo launch

Theo Mus is now the newest member of the solo club and was sent on his way by Garrett after three  prior flights with Mark and Garrett. Contrast the concentration on his face prior to launch to the smiles on his return … well done again Theo.

Garrett Russell greeted Theo upon his return.

David Guzzwell kindly helped me on chunder duty cleaning the IS28 after my passenger threw up AFTER we had stopped AND I had opened the canopy ...

A great job well done Dave!

Along with reviewing our normal operations and procedures for the clubs bi-annual check, Tony Scarlett also had three check flights with David Higgs, Mark  and Myself and I understand from David he left at the end of the day happy with what he observed

Jacob Mason was getting some back seat flying experience in the IS28 seat with Mick Moloney occupying the front seat … and got signed off on the IS28 backseat.

Thanks go to Mark, Mick and Garrett who took our two overseas visitors (Robin Bomberger and  Anton Szabo) up for ‘taste tester’ flights – we’re expecting to see Robin and Anton back soon to sign up for temporary membership whilst they’re in the country.

And a final big thanks to everyone present who simply mucked in without asking and assisted with operations on the day … last by no means least was Steve Bowtell who spent the whole day in the tug! Thanks Steve!!

For statisticians amongst you:

CQC (IS28) – 6 flights for total flying time of 1 hr 58 mins

GYK (blanik) – 8 flights 1 hr 55 mins

GXQ (blanik) – 3 flights 34 mins

Safe flying and roll on Friday!

Regards,
