A small Australia Day turn out at YCAB today were greeted with fluctuating weather conditions – skies which rapidly changed from relatively clear to thickly overcast, and gusty south easterly winds which intensified as the day progressed, and challenged even the most experienced members (oh..except Bert of course) .  Hence, with modest expectations, we headed off to Runway 12 with only CQC in tow.

 

David Higgs bore the brunt of instructional duties, supported by Lindsay Mitchell in the AEI role, Tony Sorensen at the helm of SPA, and yours truly assuming the Duty Pilot…uh..duties.  Highlights for the day included signing up new member Anthony Wright who completed two training flights under David's tutelage,  and an introductory flight for a friend, Geoff Houston,  who flies model aircraft and wanted to try the lifesize version.  

 

Jacob Mason continued his post-solo training with David, while Bert Persson treated Rotary Exchange Student Elsa Magnusson to the flight of the day at 36 minutes, the flight organised by Peter Pretorius on behalf of the Caboolture Rotary Club.  

 

The day concluded with David and Lindsay experiencing the joys of wind shear as they brought CQC home to Runway 06.  Stumps were drawn at about 1600 hrs.
