Maybe it was
the thought of a really “hot day” with regular
Friday Flyers and Member numbers down.
L2 Barry
McCarthy, Tuggies John Knox (a.m.) and Steve Bowtell
(p.m.) were the Duty Crew.....Members turning up to fly
included Arthur Mailey, Bob Hainsworth and Student
Dean Nicolle.
Any lift was
hard to locate as indicated by the longest flight of the
day being only 24 minutes by student Dean Nicolle and
Barry McCarthy......this flight did include “some
excitement “ as when Dean was coming in to land in GYK
and approx. 150 feet in height prior to touch down
Gazelle Reg. No. 24-3223 decided to leave the under
shoot area and take off despite all clearly hearing
Dean’s crosswind and downwind calls.....Dean did a
very good “right grass” landing to avoid.
Given the
small numbers and lack of lift only five flights were
undertaken with total flying time 1 hour 37 minutes.
Safe flying
over the Weekend.
