Today was a glorious day for gliding at Caboolture.

The duty crew were there nice and early ready for the days flying.   The crew today was Peter Stephenson , Mick Moloney , Chris Weir , Tony Sorenson and yours truly.

Unfortunately the vandals had visited the site again ? last night .  The first car in the line up had its car battery stolen.  The middle car in the line up was trashed. They had attempted to hot wire it, but gave up in frustration and then made sure it would never drive again.  The third car seemed to be ok but we could not get it to kick over – gave up a few feeble whimpers but refused to start.  ( some one did say this car had not been driven for weeks ! )

With some quick thinking and a battery substitution we had one of the first retrieve cars going and were off  heading over to runway 12 where we stayed for the day.

Thanks must go to David Guzzwell who did some fine glider engineering/maintenance and had the IS 28 back in shape for the start of  flying.

All up today we had 13 flights spread over GJY , GYK and CQC.

Chris Weir was off first to take the Libelle for a quick spin but we did not see him for good  1 hr 14 min.  - great flight / thermally Chris !!

Mick Moloney took the AEF for a very enjoyable 43 mins.
Shane Tuck continued his training with Peter, racking up another 3 flights for his log book.

Mike Grady, David Higgs, Karl Bodi, Simon Descovich and David Guzzwell were other members who enjoyed single flights , mutual flights and some acrobatic good fun.

For safe keeping the retrieve car batter has been placed in the container .

The cash tin only had a float of $35 ( ? had been $50 in the past ) – there is again $35 left as the float

Tony Sorensen your $5 is in the float tin as well (thanks for the loan so that  hange could be give to our visitor. )

The IS 28 seems to have a faulty radio button on the front stick - (mentioned in the log book as well as minor defect ).

As the cars and van are in full view from the road, they seem to be attracting unwanted attention. I am concerned that the next target might be the van – obviously being unlocked I am sure they are having a good poke around in there.  Hopefully they leave it as they find it and not trash it just for fun. Would another less obvious area on the field be possible ?

All in all, every one had a great day in the sun.
