|
|
Firstly
I'd like to apologise for taking such a long time to
get around to sending out this report, (I'm too cold
to think of one this evening so imagine I made up a
really good excuse). There, you feel better about it
now don't you?
Saturday
morning
was cold and damp. I arrived at about 8:45 to find Rod Wilson uncovering the
IS-28, and generally not knowing who the hell I was.
He seemed friendly though and put up with the rudeness
of me telling him I was going leave him to it and come
back and fly later on.
The Saturday crew consisted of Rod Wilson as our
AEI, Garrett Russell as our Instructor, Nick Sheahon
as DP and Kevin Rodda and myself as punters.
There were two AEF's booked and I had a friend from
work coming for a flight. Karl Bodi turned up before
we started and took over as Tug pilot.
The
tug was socked in at Archerfield when I got to the
club. Steve Bowtel had travelled down early and was
waiting for the fog to lift. Rod told me he had a
couple of AEF's to do around 11 if Archerfield
cleared.
I
mentioned that I would probably have a friend show up
for a flight later too and scooted off to the dark
side for a flight down to Redcliffe.
We
didn't have much flying booked, Kevin had called up to
ask Garrett for a check flight whilst I was away which
made 4 flights total, Nick decided we could make do
with a smaller Barina shaped Pie Cart.

Arriving back at 11am found Steve and TOJ sitting next to
the gliders; Our Duty Pilot Nick Sheahon ready to tow
to the launch point on runway 12. (Though as usual all
the powered guys were by this time using a downwind 30
- what is with that?).
Rod
took our 1st AEF Thomas Reilly for his flight just
after 12, and came back with a happy customer 41
minutes later.

Kevin
turned up just as Garrett was leaving with the our
2nd visitor, Robert Hammelsway. Garrett was kind
enough to give Robert just about the same time in
the air as his friend Thomas - 39 minutes.

third flight was mine; my passenger Kris Ramsey
seemed happy enough so without further ado...

Carl
dropped me at 3,500 in a ragged cloud street that
was working up the motorway from just south of the
airfield right up to the 4,500 step - but
frustratingly no further, so I spent an hour
cruising backwards and forwards, hoping that the
rising air would extend a wee bit further north but
it just refused. Maybe I'm destined never to get
further than that...

Kevin even managed to stop almost at the runway
exit...

fool notion was put forward whilst we were putting
the glider away (Garrett) and suddenly the flight of
the
day pilot has to do the report.

Two air experience flights ... 1 with Rod
Wilson, 1 with Garrett 41 and 39 minutes
respectively. Mine was 1.02 and Kevin was up for 22
minutes. Grand total of 2:44.
Not
bad for 4 flights I reckon!
