23/02/14 Sunday Flying at windy YCAB
To:
cgcmem@mailmanlist.net.au
Duty
crew arrived at YCAB to be greeted by low cloud and
the promise of wind with gusts between 20 to 30 knots
developing later in the morning.
With
the possibility of an Air Cadet/new member appearing
later in the day it was decided to chance the
conditions and get the Blanik out of her pyjamas.
First
flight was myself in the back seat and Peter
Stephenson in the front with the intention to
achieve my back seat endorsement (Thanks Peter for the
opportunity and the encouragement) flight consisted of
some spin recoveries and instructor induced sink prior
to joining the circuit.
Second
flight was Steve Bowtell and David Higgs with David
putting Steve through some instructor instruction.
They also have the honour of achieving the flight of
the day with a grand total of 13 minutes.
As
no other members where present and the Air Cadet had
rung to cancel, along with the deteriorating
conditions it was decided to call it quits. So the
third and final flight of the day being a hanger
flight again saw myself in the back seat and Tony
Sorenson taking over instructional duties from Peter
in the front.
