Last gliding day before Christmas@YCAB

| With
the clouds looking threatening, the day started off
with me (being a good duty pilot) arriving at 0730
at the airfiled. Next to arrive was tug pilot Trevor
Mills. Duty Instructor Dave Donald and visiting
pilot from the UK Ged Terry showed their faces and
then, as it was my first day being duty pilot, we
realised we had an issue: none of us knew where
stuff was kept. We resolved this after a brief and unexpected
rain shower: the Pie Cart and other items weren't
necessary for the day's operations as there were
only four of us, so we headed out to runway 06 with
the Falcon and the IS28. |

Terry kicked off the day with a solo lasting 20 minutes
at around 0940. Next to fly was Yours Truly for a
check flight with Dave. After none of us had found
much lift, we saw Speedy towing his Ka6 VH-GSR out
to the flight line. He launched at 1034, and, to our
great surprise, was back on the ground in 16
minutes! |

| After
a short trip back to the hangar to pick up some
ballast (and to find Neil Muspratt and David Crocker
looking around the Pie Cart wondering where the '28
had gone) I had a go and found much the same,
despite there being really good looking
clouds! |

| But
Speedy persisted and on his second launch, achieved
flight of the day at 3 hours 14 mins! Around 1100,
after we decided to drag the Pie Cart out, |

| Dave
Higgs and Mick Moloney turned up and told their
wondrous tales of Caboolture Week, and decided to
get the Club Libelle out of her trailer for a
flight. Dave Donald took Neil for an annual check
flight, and Mick took Dave Crocker for a training
flight. After some wiggling and jiggling with Miss
Club Libelle's wings (resulting in sore arms and
back) Dave Higgs decided that it wasn't worth having
a launch in GJY as Speedy and Ged had already stolen
all the lift! |

| After
that, Ged Terry took the '28 up for another solo and
scored 40 minutes (flight of the day in a CGC
aircraft)! |

| Alex
Horvath decided to have a fly(after he wounded his
leg on one of the steel pegs that hold down the
shade cloth) with Dave Donald lasting 11 mins, and
last of all Dave Donald took Dave Crocker for a
training flight lasting 31 mins (maybe there was a
bit of lift left after all). |

pleasure to have you at the club these past days!
