Saturday
22 December is not the most propitious date for a
big member turnout, and a largely overcast sky
with cloud base at times as low as 1,500 feet set
the seal on today’s fate:
CQC 4 flights 1:30
However that is just a bit over half the story of
today. Three of the four launches above were solo
flights for UK visitor Ged Terry. They included
the best flight of the day in CQC at 24 minutes.
The other half of the story is:
GSR 1 flight 1:05
GSR is Speedy’s Ka-6, which beautifully
demonstrated the superiority of wood and fabric
over metal in marginal soaring conditions (I will
now take off my Caboolture Vintage Gliding Club
hat and resume normal CGC service)
The final flight on the sheet was a superbly
handled check flight for duty pilot Adam French.
Of the rest of the duty crew tuggie Steve Chapman
flew all five launches, unemployed L1 Mark
Thompson kept a lively Pie Cart conversation going
and unemployed AEI Karl Bodi left early to do some
... well, Christmas shopping ...
The flying weather will be much better tomorrow
and the shopping mall crowds will be much worse,
so come out and give Ged a great CGC send off for
his last day of flying with us!
