Hi all,
Well it was with a rather auspicious
start at the field this morning as
you all can probably figure by the
previous emails from David and
Robert regarding the Barina.

With no punters in sight, it was
also a very slow start. However,
with the arrival of pre solo student
Jesse Gane, it was considered
worthwhile removing the covers from
the IS-28 and calling David's Kia
into action as a retrieve vehicle.
I fired up the Pie Cart and Tony
Esler the tug,

... and just prior to 10:30 Jesse
and Mark Thompson took off for a 22
minute flight amongst the vast
amounts of powdered traffic at the
field today.

Upon their return, David Higgs
made some modifications to Rod
Wilson's instrument panel (see
photo) for his check flight which
came in just on the 20 minute
mark.

Both flights reported fairly
turbulent conditions with little to
no lift and with Jesse receiving a
phone call to cut his day short, the
duty crew decided to call it a day
around noon.
Treat for the day was a flight by
the P-51 Mustang which took off with
2 POB and made several passes over
the top of the field at a great rate
of knots. The distinctive roar of
the Merlin is always music to the
ears and today was no exception. It
is truly awesome to witness warbirds
flying and it makes you realise how
lucky we are at Caboolture to have
them there. It's also emphasises the
fact about the vast range of
aircraft that use YCAB.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow's crew
for better conditions and more
customers, and please remember that
you may need to be prepared to use
one of your own vehicles to
retrieve. Hopefully nothing further
happens to our little taxi this
evening !!
Happy landings,

Nick Sheahon
Duty Pilot
