I was fortunate enough to be made most
welcome by members of the Narromine Gliding Club on Sunday.
|
|
|
|
The day presented the least promising
gliding sky of my two weeks in Dubbo (cold air with high
whispy but 8/8ths cloud cover and no cu's).

My 1:28 flight with Dave Burrell in the
Duo Discus WVS from a 2,200 feet launch at around 1 pm
(before being called back from 5,500 feet out towards
Tomingley when the glider was required by others) was
therefore extremely enjoyable and satisfying.

|
|
A blue hole appeared in the cold and
virtually windless sky not long after take-off and saw us
take advantage of some soft lift that became available over
tractors ploughing paddocks ... as well as towards the end
of the flight over cotton fields that were turning from
green to silver as they approach harvest time.

It was also a great honour to share
with Christian Martin (at left in pic below) the excitement
of him being sent by CFI Arnie Hartley (at right in pic below)
on his first two solo flights.

Christian is the "star" of
NGC's excellent promotional video ....

As you can see, we had trouble fitting
Christian's smile in his car with him for the journey home
from the airfield!
