The duty crew today consisted of David Higgs (Duty Instructor), Mark Thompson (Instructor), Karl Bodi (Tug Pilot), Mike McCluskey (AEI), and myself as Duty Pilot. Tony Sorenson also came out for the day, and Lindsay Mitchell continued his work on the IS-30. It was a nice clear day with light winds, so both the Blanik and the Twin had their DI's done and we headed off for RWY12 and remained there for the rest of the day.

On the way over to the duty runway, the rod for the vario became detached and was missing for some time until it was located at the 12 threshold. Guy Templeman continued on with his training in GYK with four flights, three with Mark, and one with David. These flights were only short as there was very little if any lift at all.

We had two AEF flights today, they came as a couple, Julius Kovaks and Wendy Burford, and they both flew with Mike McCluskey. Their flights were 25 mins and 21 mins.

Well, the flight of the day was 1 hour and 11 mins with Tony taking me along on his flight as "guest ballast" but allowing me share some of the flying . We left the ground at 1409 hrs, headed out north of the field and released at 3000 ft. Tony managed to get us up to 3500 ft twice in around about the same area in weak lift. We were also joined by Speedy and we were over there together for some time. We then tracked over to the industrial sheds where we met up with Speedy again for a short time. We then broke away and made a hangar flight for 06 with Tony at the controls.

An enjoyable day out for all, and a thank you to Karl for all of today’s towing.

Well that’s about it for now.

Cheers,

PS: My daughter Christine typed this up for me, otherwise I’d still be at the keyboard (I have to wash her car now!).
