A very select group met at the field this morning, Bob Turner, Arthur Mailey , Bob Hainsworth, Tony Sorensen, Judith Smith and Karl Bodi, approximately in that order. Bob Turner had found the dolly for the IS28, as suspected it was in the container nobody could check until the whereabouts of the key was revealed, I did not see it myself but I'm sure Bob would have moved it to the other container. He had also started the retrieve car and checked out the field, which was waterlogged and still with puddles visible. However the strips were dry enough, as were the grass areas to the side, the problem was finding a dry route to get gliders out to runway 12.

It was decided that the IS30 would suit those wanting to fly, and it being easier to disrobe, it was DI-ed and led out. Tony and Arthur took the first launch and achieved 26 minutes. Bob H took the next on his own and managed 35 minutes, after which Arthur tried to do better on his own and succeeded with 40 minutes. About this time the expected NZ pilot and his lady arrived, turned out he knows Dave Austin, they fly at the same club in NZ, at which Bill Kendell (the Kiwi) is the CFI. He and Tony took the last flight of the day, achieving 59 minutes and claiming that they only came down due to the Kiwi's concern for his lady. The quite strong wind had eased by this time and staying within gliding distance of the field was no longer the main (sole) consideration.

All up 4 flights for a total of 2 hours 40 minutes. Judith had to leave early and could not fly anyway because she still has the chip on her shoulder. Perhaps I should clarify that, she fell on an escalator and chipped a bone in her shoulder, but nevertheless turned out to support the Friday crew.  A pity more members did not do likewise, the weather was beautiful and clearly there was lift about.

For tomorrows duty pilot, I had to give change today, so the float is now $47.50.

Turn out tomorrow or Sunday if you can, we haven't had good weather like this for a few weeks.
