Sunday
started out hot - and then got hotter. Probably
the most uncomfortable day I have experienced at
the field. Nevertheless, we were
determined to aviate with one passenger booked
and the early arrival of Jacob Mason.
Early
skies looked uninviting but the forecast was for
improving conditions and so we set about
preparing GYK and Pie Cart for operations on 06.
Unwrapping
GYK led to the discovery of a free camper.
Relatively
harmless but still big and scary enough to give
Jacob and I the jitters. Thanks Mick for
the relocation services.
The
morning started slowly and first launch occurred
at 11:18 with Duty Instructor Mick Moloney
taking our passenger, Edward Hamersley, for a
4500’ launch. Edward has achieved solo
flying status at some point in his past but I
was not able to find out when and on what.
Mick
about to launch with Edward Hamersley.
Flight
duration was a respectable 42 minutes with
Tuggie Neil Schaefer reporting reasonable lift
sprinkled in among the sinky blue.

flight.
Final
launch in our two-flight day was a solo for
Jacob Mason who advised us that this was his
final flight with at CGC for a while due to his
acceptance into the RAAF as a pilot. Jacob
starts Officer Training next week and I’m sure
we all wish him the best of fortune.

…
and with Mick Moloney’s congratulations
We
look forward to having you back Jacob.
The
afternoon was so hot that we delayed packing up
somewhat, however, on discovering that the only
respite from the heat was a quantity of cold
drinks in the hangar we were all quick to depart
once everything was away.
Hoping
future flying days are more comfortable and
better attended.
