The storm has passed. One side of the tent collapsed but we are still dry :-) fortunately we were only on the edge of the storm!

And at around 11:00 am the super-storm reached the centre of Brisbane ... wild weather ripped through the city with more than 4,000 lightning strikes in under an hour ... the damaging storm turned "day into night'' as lightning and winds brought down powerlines and left more than 6,000 homes and businesses without electricity ...

Kelvin Grove markets were completely destroyed.

Flooding at Bowen Hills.

Lightning over the CBD.

Tree down at New Farm.

Tree down at Bowen Hills.

A large tree was pulled down by wind gusts at Bowen Hills.

Lightning strikes during the storm.

Lightning trikes create a strange sight over Wynnum West.

Ironically, today was the fourth anniversary of newspapers reporting what they described as "one of Brisbane's worst storms in decades". That storm (16-Nov-08) resulted in the north-west of Brisbane being the worst hit area, with branches and debris damaging scores of houses and putting the Ferny Grove train line out of action (The Gap and Ashgrove suffered the centre of the storm) ....

Storm-battered ... The Gap was one of the worst-hit areas (16-Nov-08).
