The
clouds began to disperse as David Higgs, Chris
Weir and I started towing CQC out to runway
12. Steve Chapman with the Pawnee was ready
shortly after. David and Chris kicked off the
aviating with two flights, 20 mins and 22 mins
respectively.
While
they were up in the sky, a bloke by the name
of Spencer (Pawnee pilot from NZ, over in Oz
for a year or so) suddenly appeared and began
making conversation.
The
next flight was passenger John Halliday flown
by Chris Weir, returning with a big smile on
John’s face and flight of the day at 25
minutes!
David
Higgs then took me up for a check flight, in
which I got to attempt a no-airbrake approach,
finding out the full extents of ground
effect.
While
we were up, we heard Speedy announce his
departure in his K-14 motorglider. I’m not
sure how long he stayed up but I can almost
guarantee it was longer than any of us
did.
A
big welcome goes to new member David Egerton,
who took his first flight with David Higgs and
enjoyed it thoroughly.
I
then took the last two flights solo, and for
some reason both of my landings were ‘plonkers’.
A
big thank you to Steve Chapman for tirelessly
towing us into the sky!
