A
glorious winter’s day greeted our intrepid band at YCAB
this morning, with David Higgs as Duty Instructor, ably
assisted by Mick Moloney. Peter John looked after tuggorial
responsibilities, a proud dad later showing off photos of
daughter Emma’s recent RAAF officer training graduation
parade.
First
task of the day was to search for JC's lost mobile which was
quickly located, and this was viewed by all as a good omen.
Then it was off to 12 with the IS-28 and the IS-30.
Good
lift developed as the day progressed with Dan Kershaw, Tim
Williams, and Lars Wijsman all progressing their training
under the watchful eyes of David and Mick. Janet Neisler
from the Maryborough club also worked on updating her skills
in two flights with Mick, although some concerns were raised
that Mick may have been regressing to an earlier simian
ancestoral form ...

Mike
McCluskey piloted two AEFs, the first a complimentary flight
with Kevin Stratton following an aborted flight the previous
weekend. While Mike was airborne on what proved to be the
flight of the day at 47 minutes, the powered traffic
(apparently led by one Speedy Gonsalves) decided that
changing wind conditions dictated a move to Runway 30. Mike’s
second AEF took Chandra who is currently visiting from
Singapore (a friend of DDSC member Robert Percy) on his
first glider flight.
Karl
Bodi patiently waited for an opportunity to fly QA but
eventually plumbed instead to do the last two tows allowing
PJ to have a well earned late lunch. David Higgs and I drew
stumps shortly before 1600 hrs, hangar … er..airfield
flying CQC.
For
the statisticians, 6 flights in CQC and 5 in QA for a total
of 4 hours and 7 minutes
Safe
flying
