DDSC Hangar Visit

16-Feb-13

While sheltering out of the rain in Hangar 22 on Friday, and with gliding operations extremely unlikely at YCAB for the weekend, we took the opportunity to arrange for me to take Barry McCarthy, Arthur Mailey and Bert Persson to DDSC today (with a view to showing first-hand to Arthur the way gliders are stacked into the DDSC hangars, as well as the rubber-tyred dollies used on the DDSC dirt hangar floors).

I had already planned to travel to DDSC on Sunday to collect WUC and bring her back to YCAB (and, at the latest CGC Committee meeting it was resolved that a visit to DDSC and GGC with Arthur should be arranged asap). With Arthur available Saturday but not Sunday, the plan was set.

Bert came along for the day out and to give a hand with the de-rigging and loading WUC into her trailer. He was pleasantly surprised to catch up with some faces that he has not seen for a while.

It was a long day for Arthur and Barry (down from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane for an 8am departure to Jondaryan and back in Brisbane at 5pm for the trip back to the Sunshine Coast ... donating their time to the planning of our CGC's new hangar).
