A small turnout of members on Sunday consisting of the Duty Crew plus one, but the day was not wasted.

The Duty Crew were led by Tony Sorensen with Garrett Russell as Instructor, Mark Thompson as the Pawnee driver (and moi).

The One was new member Cathy Dahlgren, and the day consisted of four training flights for Cathy in GYK under Garrett’s tutelage, to well and truly kick start her soaring career.

Conditions were initially uninspiring with virtually no wind and little cloud, but in the late morning, cumulus suddenly popped out everywhere, and the best flight of the day (26 minutes) was achieved at that time.

The promise of more to come tempted Kevin Rodda to bring out the Atlas and head off to the Glasshouses, but with increasingly gusty south east winds, the conditions were not sustained.

Stumps were drawn after Cathy’s fourth flight.

Kevin returned to YCAB after 1hr 16 minutes, exactly one minute less than GYK’s total for the day.

A cosmopolitan "potpourri of heredity" at the pie-cart today ... Tony Sorensen (Danish/Norwegian/English), Bert Persson (Swedish) and Peter Pretorius (South African).

Safe Flying,
