It may not
have been a good day for Julius but it was enjoyable for
those of us out and about on this fine Friday.
We managed 16
flights all launched by our stand-in tuggie Peter John
so many thanks to Peter for his untiring efforts. Thanks
too to Bob Turner standing in as our L2 instructor with
Ken Mitchell and Chris Guy needing checks and John
Nestor taking advantage of his advice as instructor.
John was accompanied by Anne Bradley again and she took
the spare seat available when Arthur Mailey took off in
QA.
Our 16 flights
saw a number of 11-minute flights and many others of a
similar length but Bob Hainsworth on his return from an
overseas trip found enough lift to record 1.14! Well
done Bob.
We had a
visitor, Jye Ferri who challenged the weight limit for
GYK so greatly that we had to call upon Bert to escort
him on his first Glider flight. If Jye becomes a club
member, we will need the CQC back so wish Bert and
‘Speedy’ well for the rest of its inspection,
everyone, please.
Peter
Stephenson, in a short visit, did a check flight with
newly returning Chris Guy, before Chris took QA off for
a solo flight. Another highlight for Chris today.
Ken Mitchell
ended the day with a hangar flight in GYK landing just
after 15.00. QA was already being put to bed and the van
was back in its spot. So, as usual, we sat and reviewed
the day. Peter John gave us all a timely reminder about
situational calls when we have transiting traffic
advising us that they will be in our particular
location. Advice we all need to heed.
Stay safe
everyone,
