All things considered it was a quietly successful day at YCAB this Saturday. With no AEFs scheduled and only one MIR from Tim Williams, the day was not expected to be terribly eventful, but success does not always result from a full flight sheet.

The day started with L2 John Ashford, Tuggie Tony Esler and myself arriving at the field to find Mark Yabsley looking for a passenger flight and Tim Williams looking for some post-solo work. The decision was made that we'd only need CQC for the day, but not before the l’hoteliers were greased. After Mark and Tim assisted John with the work, we began our trek to the end of runway 12 to start the day's flying.

Not long after Tim began his check flights Speedy arrived looking for a tow in his K6. We didn't see Speedy again until well after lunch, nabbing himself the flightsheet flight of the day at 3hr 39min. Flight of the day in a CGC aircraft however, along with a CGC congratulations for flying his first flight over an hour, goes to Tim Williams at 1hr 06min. An awesome flight early in his solo career, he only came down because we told him to!

Mark took his flight in the late morning taking advantage of the excellent conditions to log another 25min on the flight sheet. It was at this point new member (and previous glider/power pilot) Rupert Perry arrived to get in on the great conditions. After John put him through his paces with a low level simulated rope break, Rupert was off on his first CGC solo, putting another 45min on the flightsheet.

Having no AEFs scheduled, our AEI Kevin Rodda had resigned to his hangar for most of the day; preparing for Caboolture week at DDSC. However a drop-in from my friend Peter Bausch, a musician on exchange from Germany, saw Kevin kindly take him for a noteworthy afternoon flight of 1hr 03min, the final flight for the day.

Stats for the day:
CQC   7 launches   3hr 41min

See you at the field
