As speculated by Garrett, Mick and the Saturday crew, Sunday turned out to be a great day’s flying.

With Duty instructor David Higgs, instructor Mick Moloney, AEI Lindsay Mitchell myself as duty pilot and Trevor Mills flying the Pawnee, we were ready for the days flying operations.

Students Dean Nicolle and Dave Crocker showed up to continue their training and Chris Weir was at the airfield bright and early to take friend Anne for a mid-morning soar.

Flying commenced from runway 12 with Chris and Anne first off the mark at 1013, Mick and David kept busy with training flights in Yankee Kilo whilst I organised myself a check flight in CQC followed by a sneaky solo straight after.

Kevin Rodda showed up in the “orange thingy” around 1200 to take to the skies, only to end up back on the ground 10 mins later!! Slightly disappointed Kev re-launched straight away and managed to achieve the flight of the day at 2hr 35min.

David Higgs and Dean Nicolle wrapped up the days flying with some aerobatics in CQC, ultimately introducing Dean to loops etc as he’ll be doing a few in Tamworth for military flight screening in 3 weeks!! Good luck Dean.

All in all a brilliant day at YCAB.

Many thanks to the duty crew for the days efforts. And a personal thanks to Lindsay for taking flight times whilst the duty pilot took to the skies.

CQC 2hrs 14mins @ 4 flights
GYK 2 hrs 1min @ 5 flights
WUC 2hrs 45mins @ 2 flights

Total of 7 hours flying.

Sorry Dan but I can’t help but correct this sentence in your flying report.

And a personal thanks to Lindsay for taking flight times whilst the duty pilot took to the skies.

should read ...

And a personal thanks to Lindsay for taking flight times whilst the duty pilot took to the skies to log his first solo 1 hour + flight.

Good flight Dan – well done.

Cheers,
