A pleasant change from the rain of the last few weeks, the Saturday crew
arrived to promising blue skies and a few keen flyers ready to tackle them.
L2 Barry McCarthy, Lyn McCarthy and myself were joined by Rupert Perry,
Alan Graham and David Guzzwell in setting up for what would ultimately be a
perfectly pleasant day of flying, the cu's appearing as early as 10:00am
providing more than enough invitation.

After some slight tuggie confusion was resolved (Steve Bowtell kindly came
out to tow us for the day), Barry and Alan were off for their first flight
in GYK, followed shortly by Rupert with his friend David in CQC. We watched
Speedy disappear for a couple of hours (2:10) in his KA6-Cr GSR soon after, and it
wasn't long before Kevin Rodda also appeared with his SGS 1-35 WUC to take advantage of
the conditions himself (0:14 and 1:06). Barry and David then took flight of the day in a
club glider with their 25 minute check flight in CQC just before lunch.

Barry commandeered CQC at lunchtime to take his friend Graham Ross for a
flight, and though the conditions seemed to be fading, Rupert and Alan were
keen to give it another crack with a post-lunch mutual, before David hangar
flew CQC on his solo flight for the day. Barry took Nathan Bowtell up to
finish the day in GYK before tying down and packing up all before 3:30pm.

Stats for the day:

GYK      4 Launches      1hr16min

CQC      5 Launches      1hr28min

A total of 12 launches on the flight sheet including non-club gliders. A
final note regarding GYK, the radio seems to be transmitting but the
microphone in the front seems to be extremely quiet, much quieter than is
functional.

See you at the field
