An excellent day’s gliding for the small group who assembled at YCAB this morning.

Some unresolved problems with the new refueling point console contributed to a delayed start with the first flight of the day at 1052hrs off Runway 12.

However David Higgs and Student Florian Poff in GYK were quickly rewarded with a 1hr 16 min flight!

Mike McCluskey then provided further evidence of the booming conditions by taking friends Rod Matthews and Ian Preston on flights of 39 mins and 1hr 06mins respectively in the 28.

Duty Instructor John Ashford progressed Dean Nicolle’s training with two flights in the Blanik while El Presidente Lindsay took our southern visitor Rosario Challancin for a 49min spin in CQC.

Meanwhile Speedy and Kevin Rodda took their personal chariots into the wide blue yonder with Kevin recording the day’s best effort of 1hr 42mins in WUC (incidentally logged by Duty Pilot Chapman as “Kevin’s orange thingee”).

As noted by “humble pilot” Mick Moloney, the current conditions drop off markedly as the afternoon progresses, as was well evidenced by yours truly managing only 15 mins in the final flight of the day at 1520.

The moral of the story – get there early tomorrow for more great flying.

For the statisticians – 8 flights for a total of 5hrs 13mins.

Safe Flying
