Under
a partly cloudy sky, it was not long before Dave
Higgs and myself were joined by Neil Muspratt,
Speedy Gonsalves, Steve Chapman, Theo Mus and new
member Shane Burgess. Welcome Shane!
Steve
Chapman went off to prepare SPA while the rest of
us worked on trying to remove an ant infestation
in the empennage/tail of GYK, with some success.
Luckily
they had not made it as far as the cockpit.
We
unwrapped the IS-28 then moved her over to
Kevin’s hangar where Speedy soldered a wire for
the PTT on the front control stick, so that it now
works beautifully! Thanks Speedy!
The
aircraft were towed out to runway 12 and flying
commenced. First up was an annual check for Neil
Muspratt with Dave Higgs. Neil then took our first
passenger Creden Pryce-Coady for flight of the day
at 52 minutes! Well done Neil! Dave Higgs took
Theo Mus for one training flight, followed by some
practice rope-break emergencies.
Speedy
turned up with his K-14 and as usual, disappeared
for a couple of hours. Second Passenger Monica
Kulendran wanted to experience some aerobatics so
David Higgs took her up for a most enjoyable
time.
The
radio in the IS-28 transmitted so clearly that
Speedy remembered David’s transmission word for
word! Shane Burgess then had his first training
flights in GYK, which he enjoyed greatly, followed
by yours truly taking a tie-down flight in CQC.
Speedy
and Bert have adjusted the wheel brake in the
IS-28 so it now is more effective. Thanks
guys! I was forced to test it out after I touched
down and a kangaroo decided that the best way to
get away from an oncoming glider was to hop in
front of it.
Thanks
to Steve Chapman for being our tug pilot so that
we could all get into the air!
