HEADLINE FRIDAY AT CGC
To:
cgcmem@mailmanlist.net.au
BIG
HEADLINE NEWS:
Friday
flyer Ken Mitchell aced the one hour solo he’s been
chasing for a C Certificate.
EVEN
BIGGER HEADLINE NEWS:
That
was only one of FIVE hour plus flights - almost half
of the times on the flight sheet over or close to the
magic 60 minutes. In ascending order:
1:06
Judith Smith and Arthur Mailey GXQ
1:10
Bob Hainsworth GJY
1:12
Ken Mitchell CQC
1:40
Barry McCarthy GJY
3:53
Kevin Rodda GRV
And
Tony Sorensen landed just short of making it a list of
six with a 56 minute AEF.
Congratulations
to Ken, to Kevin “if I’d known it was that close
I’d have stayed up another seven minutes” Rodda,
and to Judith and Arthur, who scored their time on a
hangar flight!
If
you’re paying close attention you will have also
noticed that Judith and Arthur were in a glider that
has not been on the flight line for some time. Lindsay
Mitchell had arrived at the airfield very early to
complete the Form 2 on Blanik GXQ, which he did with
the assistance of John Nestor working on the radio.
They got the glider out to the RWY12 flight line by
lunchtime and Lindsay took off just before 1300 for
the annual check flight.
That
made it a five glider day, with all four of the
club’s available gliders in the air during the day.
GYK
was mainly used for training flights with new member
Robert Collins before Anne Bradley joined me for a 38
minute flight from the day’s last launch to end
Yankee Kilo’s year of solid service. She is now off
line for her annual airworthiness inspection.
THE
STATS BEHIND THE HEADLINES:
CQC
3 flights 1:34
GXQ
2 flights 1:39
GYK
4 flights 1:41
GJY
2 flights 2:50
GRV
2 flights 4:14
Thank
you to John Knox and Karl Bodi for providing the all
important lift to get the rest of us up to the lift.
If
Friday’s lift continues, you’re in for a big
weekend!
