  Surprisingly sunny Saturday

10-Jan-15

SPA out and ready as the pie-cart headed to RWY06

A substantial downpour on the northern outskirts of Brisbane as I travelled to YCAB this morning left me thinking it would probably be a wasted trip ... but I was wrong!

When I arrived at the tie down area I was greeted by fellow Duty Crew members David Higgs (Duty Instructor), Steve Chapman (Tug Pilot) and Rod Wilson (Duty Pilot) ... plus sunny/steamy conditions that showed some promise of local lift during the day.

We were soon joined by Alan Graham, John Nestor (expat from the Friday Regulars) and Jason Humrich (Air Cadets) ... and later in the day by Peter Stephenson.

We set up the flight line at RW06 where the first our nine flights for the day was launched at 10:16 am.

The longest flight of the day was recorded by Jason Humrich during one of his three training flights with David Higgs (1 hour 17 minutes from a 1:03 pm 3,200 feet launch.

Flying operations concluded when I landed GYK after a "hangar flight" launch at 4:42 pm (just after a late afternoon sea breeze change moved in with a noticeable and rapid change in the air temperature at ground level).

All up there were 9 flights in Blanik GYK (for a total of 4 hours 51 minutes).
