Driving
north to Caboolture Saturday morning wasn’t
looking promising at all, with isolated yet
heavy showers most of the way.
On
arrival we were surprised to find the airfield
was dry and the early morning powered traffic
was already buzzing around.
Theo
Mus arrived soon after to continue his training
and the decision was made to DI GYK and head out
to RW 12.
The
duty crew consisted of myself as DP, Dave Higgs
as Duty Instructor, Mick Moloney also
Instructing, and Steve Chapman piloting our
troublesome Pawnee.
Theo
and Dave kicked off the day’s ops with a
training flight, followed by myself and Mick
with some post solo training and a check
flight.
David
Guzzwell arrived and made the decision to DI CQC
for a check flight followed by a solo.
By
this time our poor old tug’s battery was
struggling to turn the 540ci engine over and for
a change the Pawnee got towed back to the
hangar.
A big
thanks to Steve Bowtell for driving out that
afternoon to troubleshoot the problem and
ultimately get another days flying out of the
Pawnee.
