First order of the day was to re-rig Blanik GYK. Lindsay Mitchell, David Guzzwell, Rod Elsworth and Speedy have spent the last couple of weeks getting the form 2 completed and the aircraft ready for action. The assembled duty crew were 'invited' to help out.

I'm sure most of you know the routine - fuselage ready, wings ready, first wing in position, connectors good, tap tap tap, up, back, back, tap tap, down a bit, ............, up up, hold it steady, tap tap, wiggle it around, tap tap, ..........., back a bit, tap tap, "got it". Rinse and repeat for the second wing. It's even more fun when you realise one of the connectors "isn't" so it's off with the wing and do it all again.

Kevin Rodda, Rod Wilson, Karl Bodi, Ashton Greive and I left the boys to continue with GYK while we went and played duty crew. Runway 12 for an 11 o'clock AEF was the target. We were ready 30 minutes early which was just as well because so was passenger Mark Holman.

Joining us for their first day of gliding were new father and son members Simon and Carlo Brodie. Carlo is a lightweight and it took a couple of trips back to the hangar for extra ballast and a seat cushion before he could take to the skies in the IS-28 to match his Dad's two flights for the day.

The new pie cart is eagerly anticipated but for the day we made do with the gazebo, plastic chairs and table. We did, however, also make use of the extra shade extension, comfortable chairs, kettle and tea & coffee facilities. Thanks for the hot drink Kevin !

Ashton Greive "held the fort" at the flight line while Rod and Kevin went back to assist Lindsay, Speedy and Guzzy with taking GXQ's port wing off and back on again ...

As we landed the last IS-28 flight on runway 06 Lindsay was strapping into the Blanik for the evaluation flight ....

Soon after Karl and SPA had Lindsay and XQ in the air for the post-Form2 evaluation flight ...

... while the demolition crew got to work on our temporary accommodation ...

Thanks to everyone there for the day, especially the maintenance crew for getting the Blanik's form 2 completed and the aircraft back in service.

Regards,
