Not a new form of airfield
transport ... just Bernard "Speedy"
Gonsalves taking his K6 tow out gear back to his
hangar late this afternoon after having lent it to
Alex Horvath for the weekend. Speedy missed the
thermal action at YCAB over the last few days ... he
worked Friday, went to Gympie with RTO-Ops Chad Nowak
on "GFA Airworthiness business" on Saturday,
then worked on CGC's Club Libelle and attended the CAC
AGM today. He really must review his priorities!
It was
AGM day for Caboolture Aero Club today which meant
that we had quite an "audience" keeping a
watchful eye on us launching from "grass
right" in the undershoot area of RWY06.
The Duty
Crew consisted of Tony Sorensen (Tug Pilot), Garrett
Russell (Duty Instructor), Mick Moloney (Instructor),
me (Air Experience Instructor) and Alan Graham (Duty
Pilot).
With CQC
and XOF ready for the flight line, I took the
opportunity to enlist some muscle and expertise (Bert
and Speedy) to rig my "Pocket
Rocket"/"Orange Thingy"/"Fanta
Can" (Schweizer WUC) ... which has been in the
trailer since Caboolture XC week at DDSC to allow easy
access to the K6 for a few weeks as well as hangar
space for work over recent weeks on the fuselages of
Club Libelle GJY and then Blanik GXQ. As an indication
of the flying conditions versus yesterday, WUC waited
patiently all day (on the apron at the front of Hangar
22) for the tow out to the flight line that did not
eventuate!
Alan
Graham was first away at 1014 hrs for a 30 minute
flight in CQC.
Alex
Horvath was back at the field again today for another
jaunt in his K6 (XOF) ... a solid flight of 72 minutes
from a launch at 1142 hrs. Not up to the standard he set
with his epic flight in her yesterday, however a
pleasant follow up and easily the longest flight
of the day.

One
would have thought that, having a senior (deliberately
anonymous) member of today's Duty Crew as Secretary of
CAC as well as doing an outstanding job for CGC in
taking AEF bookings, there would have been some time
between the start of the AGM and our AEF bookings. Not
so however, we had two AEF passengers booked in for
11am ... and what time do you think the AGM
started?
It all
went well on the day however, we had a delightful
visit from Michael Bowers and Paula Sorbello who
brought Hamish Bowers and Tynan Roussely to the
Airfield for Air Experience Flights. The two
passengers were polite, enthusiastic and appreciative
young men ... it was a pleasure to fly with them both!

Air Experience Flight in the IS-28 (CQC).
These
two flights piloted by me in CQC saw some lift
utilised and resulted in 49 minutes (launched at 1112
hrs) for Hamish and 38 minutes (launched at 1217 hrs) for Tynan.

Tynan back on deck with pilot
Kevin Rodda after thoroughly enjoying the experience!
We then
headed for the AGM to find the meeting over, lots of
people still there to catch up with and some food and
drinks still available ... not such a disaster after
all!
Alan
Graham took Mick Moloney with him for a 21 minute
flight at 1429 hrs to conclude the day's CGC flying
operations.
Tow
release heights were 3000 ft, 2400 ft, 3500 ft, 3500 ft
and 3500 ft respectively.
In total
5 flights for 3hrs 30mns (CGC 4 flights for 2hrs 18mns
and XOF 1 flight for 1hr 12mns).
Fly
safely,

And
the flight times of the two AEF's compared to the
earlier and later flight times are testament to
why they were scheduled for when they were!
(Giving
people a great gliding experience is one of the
reasons we’re called “the friendly club” ;-)

And
we all thought that the difference was due to the
skill of the AEI !!!!!!
Best
