The
weather that gave us such good soaring in October was
not around for our first Friday in November. Six of
the day’s eight flights were in the
quarter-of-an-hour range, and the Club Libelle was in
that group on its one and only flight. But it was
still a day of great achievement.
Ken
Mitchell shouted drinks to celebrate his successful
outlanding, passenger awareness flight, and oral
examination to complete requirements for C
Certificate. Congratulations, Ken, and best wishes to
Shane Tuck and John Nestor as they chase after you
towards the Big C!
Arthur
Mailey, sniffing the unpromising early sky, decided to
spend the morning on more work in the new Pie Cart -
and then combined with Barry McCarthy to launch CQC
into a break in the overcast which resulted in
undisputed flight of the day at 46 minutes. How’s
that for a great bit of multi-tasking?
Barry
tried a repeat performance with Bob Hainsworth but the
sky had closed up again, bringing them back down in 20
minutes for the day’s second best time.
The
rest of the flights were a check ride followed by solo
for Charles Hoch and John Knox switching cockpits
after Karl Bodi took over from him in the tug. Judith
Smith, who did sterling duty with the flight sheet all
morning, did not fly as she had to leave for an
afternoon appointment.
All
up one flight for GJY at 16 minutes and seven flights
for CQC at 2 hours 20 minutes.
Soaring
conditions look better for the weekend, so the
challenge is on for you to beat those times.
