Firstly
apologies for the late report.
Saturday
morning didn’t look too promising at Caboolture, but
Duty Instructor Kevin Roden made the final call to DI
IS-28 and head off to runway 12. The turnout eventuated
into a decent days flying with Garrett Russell turning
up on his birthday to assist in the days training
flights, thanks for your assistance Garrett! Tim
Williams scored a lift with Kevin to continue his
training, Stephen Wilson to continue his conversion from
hang gliders to.... ah gliders and both Alan Graham and
Adam French came out to blow the cobwebs out and go for
a fly.
With Tony
Esler flying the Pawnee first launch of the day was at
1000 with Tim Williams and Kevin off for a training
flight, followed by successful check flights with
Garrett for both Alan and Adam. Stephen Wilson continued
his training with Kevin and the duty pilot organised
himself a sneaky flight with visiting instructor/tug
pilot from Lake Keepit Rob De Jarlais who proved to be a
lucky charm for anyone who flew with him as I never knew
it was possible to thermal in the rain.
The rest of
the days flying consisted of a rope break for Tim
Williams, getting an idea of how well the 28 will
perform, including a follow up flight with a few spins
and loops. Alan decided he’d try the lucky charm and
go for a fly with Rob, not quite finding the same shed
(source of lift), Chris Weir popped out for late arvo
flight and Garrett and Adam wrapped up the day with a
tie down flight.
For what
started out a not so promising day of flying turned out
to be quite a successful day at Caboolture. Thanks to
Kevin and Garrett for instructing, Tony for flying the
Pawnee all day, and Adam and Alan for retrieving and
launching
IS 28: 10
flights at 2 hours and 34 minutes.
Average
flight: 15.4 mins
The longest
being 22 mins.
