A beautiful winter's day at the 12 flight line ... but absolutely no lift in that blue sky above!

Saturday saw a relaxed day around Caboolture with the duty crew casually preparing the Blanik and IS-28 for the days activities conducted from Runway 12 with the aid of Tim Williams with friend Arthur Theier and a newcomer to the lighter side of flying Mike Redmond (one of Caboolture's Tiger Moth pilots) lending a hand.

First flight of the day saw yours truly take to the skies at 10:25 for a check flight in GYK shortly followed by Arthur enjoying a quick 16min introductory flight with Mike McCluskey ably at the controls.

Kevin Roden had the privilege of introducing new member Mike Redmond to the world of gliding with a number of training flights and quick ran out of things to throw at the experienced pilot. So Mike was quickly introduced to the thrill of a low level rope break followed by a wing down takeoff from 30 all taken in his stride.

Both Speedy and Kevin Rodda thought they would take to the air in GSR and WUC respectively, given the enticement of the clear skies only to find like the rest of us that there was no  lift to be found anywhere. Speedy clocked up 25 minutes and Kevin clocked up two flights with times of 23 and 26 minutes. This is where the fight for flight of the day becomes interesting seeing as Lindsay Mitchell with Bren Wright (a friend of Steve Chapman) clocked a in air time of 31min, but this was achieved from a release height of  4,500ft.

The other flights for the day saw Tim take GYK on a solo flight,  Tim and Lindsay take CQC out for a bit of fun with a ribbon cutting exercise  seeing one successful ribbon cut and Mike Mc with myself taking CQC for a jaunt/hanger flight .

Club Stats:
13 launches
CQC       4 launches for 1:25
GYK        6 launches for 1:11

When asked why he looked so eager to get home, Lindsay's dog Loki commented that he was keen to watch the Wallabies thrash the Lions ... just how wrong can a dog be?
