We had a good "roll-up" of Friday Flyers today.....Judith Smith, Anne
Bradley, John Nester, Ken Mitchell, Arthur Mailey, Bob Hainsworth and Shane
Tuck.
Duty Instructor Barry McCarthy was ably assisted by L2 Garrett Russell  were
able to welcome back L2 Bob Turner after his recent trip to the United
Kingdom..... BUT first a big thank you to our "Tuggie" for the day Steve
Bowtell and his "Social Secretary" Nathan Bowtell  after Steve finished his
night shift at QR.
John Knox will be back next Friday to do the morning shift.
After some weeks of not being able to get into the air and despite the
airfield being still pretty wet in places Gliders GYK and CQC were soon
towed to Runway 12 to start the day before a wind shift forced a change to
30.
First flight covered an  Annual Check and then a series of training and
check flights as the field was covered by high cloud with no lift whatsoever
BUT just after mid-day a large street developed  from the South East and Bob Hainsworth managed 52 minutes and Arthur Mailey "milked" to last of it for 38 minutes to record the best flights of the day.
Total Statistics for the day:-
GYK   9 flights   2 hours 03 minutes
CQC   5 flights   2 hours 21 minutes
Total 14 flights for 4 hours 24 minutes
Visitors to the field included Tony Sorenson and Jetstar Cadet "Joe" (sorry
I did not get your second name) who had a chat to Tug Master Steve and is
keen to join the Club and in time fly SPA when it returns to service.
Also …
Floating around in the background were those two great Club Stalwarts"Speedy" and Bert dong the odd job "here and there" ... thanks fellows.
For the Weekend Flyers please note that the TUG will need to be refuelled
when Kevin Rodda delivers the new Fuel Credit Card in the morning ... the
Jerry Cans have been filled and cars "topped-up" with fuel BUT please check
water/oil … also ... the pie cart tyres have been pumped up BUT please
check to ensure they are still fully inflated.
BTW ... the radio in GYK receives BUT will not transmit so needs attention
asap.
Safe flying,

Barry McCarthy
