No fireworks at Caboolture fortunately and no Wieners or Budweiser either!

A reduced Friday crew presented themselves to fly today, Judith Smith and Ken Mitchell called in sick, Barry McCarthy was still suffering with some terrible bug he has had for 3 weeks, and Garrett Russell phoned in the early morning to make sure we knew about the passenger expected, he had a bad cough.

However Bob Turner as Instructor and Tony Sorensen as tuggie were present, along with Arthur Mailey, John Nestor, Shane Tuck, Karl Bodi, and yours truly, Bob Hainsworth. We prepared CQC and GYK and took them out to 24, which seemed to us the correct runway though as usual the power boys were using 12. After 2 launches we gave in and went to12 for the rest of the day. John Nestor launched first in CQC and was back in 9 minutes, the decision to move was made and Arthur launch in GYK to land on 12 after a flight of 17 minutes. Then our visitors arrived early and after completing the paperwork Karl Bodi took Fred Tullock for a ride in CQC for 28 minutes from 3500 ft. Maybe things were improving.

After that Shane had a launch in GYK for 22 mins, after which Karl took James Morgan up in CQC for 16 mins, maybe things weren't improving! Fred is a Pom spending 6 months in oz with his Aussie lady friend Amanda, they had had brought her son James along and he was keen to fly so Karl very kindly took him up as a friend, Maybe we will see James again if he can secure the necessary resources as he seemed very keen.

Then Arthur twisted my arm to have a launch in CQC, it must have been the right moment to launch because I found a short cloud street that was working and flew under it for ! hour and 9 mins, every attempt to try somewhere else resulted in a return to it, but I was able to keep between 3000 and 3500 feet. This of course was the flight of the day as I had hogged all the lift. Shane did have another attempt and managed a worthy 40 mins.

Finally Tony and Bob Turner gave each other annual check flights and John had a final flight in CQC, these ending in tie down landings on 06.

About the Pie Cart, great care is needed when lowering the steel work of the shade cloth frame.
