Hot sticky Sunday

It was hot and sticky early at YCAB this morning and stayed that way all day! 

The duty crew of Barry McCarthy, Kevin Rodda, Alan Graham and Tony Esler were joined by Tony Sorensen. 

We had the Black Blanik (GYK) at the flight line at RWY 12 for quite a while before I volunteered to be the "thermal sniffer" and took the first launch at 10:09 am. 

Only 17 minutes from a 2000 feet launch did not reflect the lift expectations that we had been discussing. 

   

Motley crew ... Barry McCarthy, Tony Esler, Tony Sorensen, Lene Kristensen and Alan Graham. 

  
Lene Kristensen joined us a little later in the morning to take flights with Alan Graham ...  and then Karl Bodi also dropped in to see what was happening.   
 

Sun protection gear and shade was the flavour of the day ... Tony Sorensen and Barry McCarthy.

   
Tony Sorensen's hangar flight was the flight of the day (46 minutes from a 2800 feet launch at 2:03 pm) and Barry McCarthy scratched out a handy flight in the conditions (37 minutes from a 2800 feet launch at 10:47 am). 

Allan Graham managed flights of 15 minutes and 33 minutes while Karl Bodi also took the skies for a 21 minute flight.

All up, there were 6 flights for a total of 2:49 on a day where heading home to get a break from the uncomfortable weather conditions was one of the highlights. 

However the company was good and, as they say, any day that you can fly is a good day!

Message from Barry McCarthy: The tail dolly for GYK was left (after Saturday) with a puncture and will need repairing for next Friday  ...  also the Magna battery was flat and the vehicle was not parked real close to the container (with fuel cap real close) as locals have been stealing the petrol.
