...
almost .....
I
called in to the field yesterday just before 9am
to give Leon a hand to set things up as he is
not a regular at Caboolture, having graciously
volunteered to fill in when required.
The
vibe of the assembled group matched the weather
above - gloomy with a chance of calling it off.
However with some encouragement and two AEFs on
the books we set about getting things ready.
Dave Crockett gathered his duty pilot bits and
pieces, Neil Muspratt and Leon unveiled the
IS-28 and Steve Chapman and I brought SPA out
into the open. Kevin Dobbie rolled up for some
flying but unfortunately was almost as quickly
called away again for family business.
In a
nutshell the day improved, the AEFs flew, Dave
Crocker had a couple of flights, Speedy scored
almost 2 hours with only engine-on at launch.
Bert took off at the same time as Speedy and
returned hours later as we were regaling a good
day with closing drinks in the hangar. They both
confirmed what we could see from the ground -
that the skies had cleared and the day had
blossomed.
Once
again we proved that a bit of perseverance can
produce some good results.
Let's
not be too hasty in declaring a lost day.
Regards,
